Miranda July, Thinking.
Thinking, "What the hell is this guy doing with his camera and his business card and his bullshit boast about being the world's greatest writing/editing partner, and is that a stain on that ugly brown shirt?

Taken at the Hammer Museum a couple of days ago after Ms. July deigned to read from her grand new book. UCLA nerd kids REALLY love her, it would appear. . .they turned away more than were allowed. It was like being in Portland, or San Francisco - only the kids were much friendlier than the ones in San Francisco, and better dressed/less purposefully-slouchy than their Portland counterparts. I'm still rating Portland slightly higher than Los Angeles . . .with S.F. below Colorado Springs - in terms of cultural and aesthetic value.

(Turns out her eyes really are ablaze with color value.)

Neither Lou, nor I, quite captured what we were after here. I thought about plying her with my flask to see if she could be pulled away from Mr. Mills, her hip boyfriend, but thought better of it for two reasons:

1. Mr. Mills and my wife.
2. I didn't have a flask.
3. I've never had to resort to alcohol to get a good portrait before.

I know, that's three reasons, but I had only thought of the first two when I typed 'two' and I'm nothing if not honest about my thought process.
