I took portraits (with large format) of a girl yesterday, and at point I said (she's a photographer herself, and -but not only because of that- we were also talking all the time): "hm. the good thing is, one doesn't see oneself while taking the photos. one really finds oneself in the most awkward positions again and again."
(I also remember saying, while comparing the whole scene to what I saw on the dark groundglass: "hm. actually you're way more beautiful to look at like this compared to what I see on my screen right now." tiny problem, if one is trying to realize one idea to the end*, but is distracted by enjoying a different view already far more. a lovely task, though.)
*the more and more expired film is driving me nuts often more and more. it's not what it used to be, playing with material and ages. experience and dealing with random. it's just becoming too random from time to time. sigh.
