I did see his polaroids in two different publications. 'Bright, bright day'. As sort of small show catalog by White Space Gallery that was available online last november. And the book 'Instant LIght:Tarkovsky Polaroids'. And both are instrumental in understanding a little better how Tarkovski saw each frame of his movies, as stills, as paintings, as photographs, each one of them being worth our undivided attention.
^
Absolutely.. they are an extesion of his films. As if they were taking out of his movies.

I read your comment about the music... Of course.. when i saw the picture and the title i thought of this music: "Matheus passion".. Always close to my mind too!
^
Glad to hear that! :) It is a haunting composition...Simply brilliant.

Congratulations Jose, I'm so happy to see this on the cover today! (Yesterday My.Iowa and today you - this is shaping up to be a great Easter/holiday!)

People often say that the choco80 blends the foreground and background into one plane, and though I've agreed it's never before been as clear as in this choco. Just a subtle change in nuance between grass and sky.

This, in my view, is as good as a square landscape can get. I can't stop looking at it!

^
Thank you joster! I have to admit some magic happened here.. The original is even better, I swear.. I guess I have to go out and buy a good frame for it!..

:-)

Magnificent! A ravishing sweep. A tranquil sweep.

If you squint your eyes, the treetops look like little leafy cloud puffs wafting over the hill.

But why bother squinting your eyes? This is so gorgeous! Best to have my eyes popped wide open.

^
Hahaha.. Thanks so much Stefano! You are very kind..

like an old film...
it could also be a photo in my grandparents photo-album...
great!

^
That's exactly what I thought when I peeled off the film and held the photo on my hands! I'm amazed with the quality of the choco film. We really have to be grateful to the guys behind polanoid for coming up with such a brilliant film..

Now I see that the project is indeed names "Sculpting in time", so it's no question about you having read it or not! (Maybe I should end my search of the Swedish edition and settle for the English? Is that the one you've read? Do you recommend it?)
^
I totally recommend it. I bought my english copy a few years back in Texas. It is a unique book, one that stands on its own. Not only you get to learn about Tarkovsky take on life, art, religion, cinema.. but you also get to read his father's poetry, which is very beautiful.

I lend the book to our fellow polanoider 'the world is yours' and never saw it again! :) Is that good!!!

Another beautiful homage to Tarkovskij finds its way onto Polanoid! The Sacrifice is one of my most beloved films (I almost get tears in my eyes just from thinking about it) - I'm at awe for every minute of it, from the beautiful long take in the beginning to the burning of the house. Erland Josephson is so talented! Have you read "Scuplting in time"? The Swedish edition has a lovely foreword by Josephson, but sadly I can't seem to find the book outside of libraries. I've been looking for years!

I will return tomorrow with more "meaningful" comments to your latest upload, this is just a not-so-short message telling you that you've sent a shiver of delight down a fellow cineasts spine. Bravo!

^
Thanks a lot for my friend. I'm happy you liked this serie. This is only a very modest tribute to the great master. I love "The Sacrifice", and Erland Josephson's perfomance is out of this world. You swedes are so talented! :)

Did you ever see the documentary "Directed by Andrei Tarkovsky"?.. There is this music piece in there called "Erbarme Dich" by Bach, which immediatly came to mind when I saw this picture.. I followed the music in my head throughout the day and shot the rest of the pics.. It was a very tarkovskyan afternoon.. :)
