A shame you didnt photograph his crew too- but i meant apart from the story, he has an interesting face to photograph...I think although theres that obvious awareness of him being photographed, as he is looking directly at the lense, but he seems so natural and comfortable..and theres something else about it that I cant quite put into words, but I find the pic with the flash especailly mesmerising and I think the images of him are powerful without the story too, because of it. Credit to you as a photographer too, for capturing it.

^ thanks! he and his crew, i think maybe because of the way they live, the road they've chosen to go down, part of that is a rejection of how most of us view the world, the goals we've set, the things we think we need to be comfortable, to be happy. they all look at the world differently, and as a result look at folks outside their circle with a cool detachment, bemused but not really a part of.

^ it was purely accidental. after i took the shot on the right, neither of us thought it would come out, as dusk was nigh. so we took the one on the left. i'd rather be lucky than smart.

^ i like to think that the shot on the right is how he looked before he started train-hopping, living in abandoned factories and wearing the same clothes for days. or maybe the one on the left is how we look to others, and the one on the right is how we look to ourselves.

I am fan of his. His portraits are amazing. And im not a big fan of portraits but I can appcreciate his wrok. You mentioned he is nothing like you expected him to be, that he is very much like the people in his photographs, this makes perfect sense. That explains why those people can be natural around him. Thanks for the pictures ! You are fortunate to be able to see his show. Anything else you want to mention about it ? Take care !

^ well, the show itself was of actual sx-70 polaroids, not blown up prints. around 40 shots, each going for over $1500 a piece. I had arrived at the very start of the show, so I don't know how many people ended up arriving, but according to the picture list, several had already been sold.
