Sometimes actors have to play with very intimate things. And what could be more intimate than death ? It's even more cruel when you ask old actors to play their very last moment. What could they have in mind at this moment ? Do they see it like some kind of rehearsal ?
And how is it possible to give indications to the actor in that case ? Even when you have seen someone dying right in front of you, it's far too emotional to use it afterwards as a model...
For the director, Death is the limit where imitation of reality stops.
