Anticipation
I've always found that anticipation proved to have been either better or worse than the thing itself. This day was no exception.

And then there were the things that could never have been anticipated; like this picture, which should never have come out like this at all, because I was never up in those mountains, never up in those clouds, and that big thunderstorm that was building up never did seem to break. At least, not where we were. We were on the run, and somehow, in the end, we missed it.

You'd never have thought so, looking at the picure, but I was actually sitting in a car in the passenger seat. We were on the motorway, and there were telegraph wires and trucks and factories all around me, and I lifted the camera on an impulse and shot over the top of it all, through the dirty windscreen. What developed seemed more like an image of what was going on inside me than an image of the world outside.
