Fossil

*FOSSIL*

- A remnant or trace of an organism of a past geologic age, such as a skeleton or leaf imprint, embedded and preserved in the earth's crust.

- the remains (or an impression) of a plant or animal that existed in a past geological age and that has been excavated from the soil

- The remains or imprint of an organism from a previous geologic time. A fossil can consist of the preserved tissues of an organism, as when encased in amber, ice, or pitch, or more commonly of the hardened relic of such tissues, as when organic matter is replaced by dissolved minerals. Hardened fossils are often found in layers of sedimentary rock and along the beds of rivers that flow through them.

- to lithify, to fossilize, petrifize.

(In the background you can see the sea.)

Still struggling with a name, this title serves as a "placeholder". The series means a lot to me, thus I only give a first glimpse now..
Its theme thankfully exceeds my personal vocabulary.

My associations contain the human being as part of nature, of landscapes, of a gigantic incomprehensible universe, as a pathetically tiny element of nothingness, of unimportance, or of blending in with the rest, as soon as you "zoom out" and look at us in context. It also reminds me of hibernating, resting, being, fading, decaying.
You get some of these feelings when deep diving, as well as when looking at the stars without distraction.
All is on my list to be further explored.
