I finally decided to try the new PX70-FF film by shooting 3 similar photos with 3 different films. I wanted to coax as much colour from the PX70 as I could so I set up a shot similar to this one... »

I used an Arri 650w tungsten light gelled with a 1/2 CTB (Rosco 3204 - half blue) for the light in an attempt to simulate early (or late) sunlight. I think that part worked well.
From left to right...
SX-70 film - expired 01/05
600 film - expired 08/08
PX70-FF film -born on 07/10
Probably not the best use of any of these films but I wanted to "see" the differences.
Additional techno crap - the SX-70 film had been in the camera for many months (2 shots left) - and still worked fine. The 600 was a "fresh" pack that had been cold stored since I bought it. The PX-70 was also fresh from the box but had been stored at a cool room temperature since I received it. I did cover each shot as it was ejected from the camera. Probably not necessary with the 600 but it is for the others - to avoid the yellow/gold streaks common to expired SX-70 films and to avoid the fogging problem with the PX70. Easy enough to do.
I can't see any red/orange in the PX70, but I have seen some posted here that did have some red. I'm curious as to why there was no red in this test though. Oh - by my eyes the 600 is the most colour accurate.
Enough testing though - I'll try some portraits in the coming days & if I like any of them I'll post them.
No matter what they produce I'll continue to support TIP.
They are our only hope.
