40 Years in the Making
I found some new-in-the-box Type 55 that expired in 1973. Surprisingly the pods did not feel dried out or ruptured, so I tried shooting a sheet. When I pulled it through the rollers and peeled it there was nothing there; the negative and positive were totally dry. The pod still felt supple, so I squeezed it by hand and some goop popped out. I quickly rubbed whatever liquid there was on the negative simply to see if it was still reactive at all, and sure enough it started to develop the blank negative a bit. Not the result I was looking for, but better than nothing, I suppose.
