Forest Floor
I went for a walk in the forest with my camera today. This is the forest floor of Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenong Ranges near Melbourne. This environment is teeming with life, plants, fungi, insects, birds and animals. Here I met a Lyrebird (unfortunately off the track in a dark part of the forest ie unphotographable at the time) who sang me his amazing repertoire of songs. The Lyrebird is an amzing mimic and can reproduce almost any sound he hears, mostly other bird calls but also frogs & even man-made objects like mobile phones, chainsaws and camera shutter sounds!
Mr Lyrebird's Call
I recorded this mp3 this morning whilst this one bird made all these sounds in front of me! (listen for the kookaburra impersonation)
